**The *Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO)* is a senior and influential position that reports directly to the Executive Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer (EMD/CMO).
This role is critical in helping the Trust achieve its mission of providing outstanding services in:
*Mental Health
- Learning Disabilities
- Autism Support
You will also play a key role in building an inclusive and compassionate culture aligned with our Trustβs core values.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As the Associate Chief Medical Officer, you will:
*Be an active member of the Trustβs Medical Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Support Clinical Directors and Senior Colleagues.
- Engage in regional and local healthcare forums.
- Lead the development of service strategies.
- Ensure consistency in clinical and clinical standards across the Trust.
- Drive service change initiatives.
- Promote strong clinical leadership.
- Support the implementation of the clinical workforce strategy.
- Champion Quality Improvement (QI) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
You will also be responsible for embedding best practice in governance, patient safety, and education across the organisation.

Leadership role details
The ACMO role within the Mental Health Network is currently vacant and offers an exciting leadership opportunity.
You will work in partnership with the Network Leadership Team to:
- Ensure high quality patient care
- Deliver financial and operational performance.
- Strengthen governance and accountability
- Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
This role requires a highly visible, compassionate, and proactive leader who is passionate about patient safety and service excellence.
Clinical Commitment and Job Plan
The successful candidate will also hold a clinical post within the organisation. A typical full-time arrangement may include:
- 7 Programmed Activities (PAs) for clinical work
3 PAs dedicated to leadership responsibilities.
** Additional responsibility pay of Β£22,500**
Flexible and part-time arrangements can be negotiated on an individual basis.

- Consultant Psychiatrist
- GMC registration with specialist register
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Essential qualifications
- Leadership or management qualifications
- Recognised CPD record
Essential experience
- At least 3 yearsβ leadership experience
- Senior management background
- Proven track record of leading service improvement
- Experience at senior consultant level
Essential experience
- Involvement in GM ICB or commissioning discussions
Knowledge requirements
Candidates must demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of clinical governance Understanding
- Knowledge of QI, EDI, and patient safety
- Awareness of medical workforce planning
- Understanding of healthcare policy and management
